David Drayson - Trustee (Chair)
David is a former Pharmacist and Area Manager for Boots the Chemist. He has substantial experience as a school Governor, Academy and Multi-Academy Trust Trustee/Director and Member. He has been Chair of Brigantia Learning Trust since its inception in 2014.

Michael Buxton – Trustee
Michael has a background in commercial businesses, spending the majority of his career with Cox Automotive, a family owned global automotive services business headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Michael spent a significant period in their UK operations as CFO, COO and CEO. In 2017 he transitioned to President of International Operations leading business operations in North and South America, Europe, Far East and Australia. He has vast experience in strategy, business and financial planning, transformation and operations. Michael retired from Cox in January 2020 and is now focussing on NED and advisory work as well as volunteering with a number of organisations including the Prince’s Trust and Be The Business. He was born in Sheffield and has lived in the city all his life and enjoys family time, most sports, cooking, reading and travel.


Dr Julie Edwards - Trustee
Julie is a former Hinde House pupil and a retired Healthcare Professional, with a Doctorate in Medical Diagnostic Imaging. Prior to retirement in 2018, Julie had a long career across several NHS Hospital Trusts within the UK, working clinically and Managing Service Delivery. Julie’s specialism is Research in Practice and has spent several years working for Public Health England as a consultant, working with teams from Oxford and Plymouth Universities.
Julie has previous experience of working with schools from her time in post as a Chair of Governors and from her many years supporting the training and delivery of the Expedition section of the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, here in Sheffield.
Julie spends her free time working with young people in a local pantomime group and fundraising for two local charities.

Rizwana Parveen - Trustee
Rizwana is a career civil servant, with a specialist in policy development and strategic programme leadership. She has an excellent track record of leading people to deliver complex policies and programmes through inspirational vision setting and coaching and is passionate in ensuring that policy and delivery is reflective of the diverse communities we serve. She started her career with the Home Office working in visas and immigration, alongside her day job she also served as National Executive member of the Home Office Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff support group where she had the privilege of delivering some outstanding work to bridge gaps between the Department and BAME staff and introduce some fantastic initiatives to benefit staff. In 2017, Rizwana transferred into the Department of Education to lead the Further Education Commissioner’s Private Office before moving internally to be head of region for the East Midlands and Humber Regional Schools Commissioners Office and is now a senior civil servant, Deputy Director leading Further Education Reforms. Rizwana is extremely passionate about social mobility and levelling up opportunities. She is also a Prince’s Trust Mentor and works students in inner city schools to help raise aspirations through coaching and mentoring.


Mary Pepper - Trustee
Mary qualified as a mathematics teacher and spent 22 years in the classroom, 10 years of which as a subject leader. She spent a further 18 years as a local authority mathematics advisor, a regional advisor for the National strategies Secondary phase in Yorkshire and most recently as a freelance consultant for middle leaders and teaching and learning. Mary retired at Christmas 2019 after 40 years in the education profession and joined Brigantia Learning Trust as a Trustee.

Jane Robinson - Trustee
Jane works as a freelance interim manager supporting businesses and solving their problems. After over 20 years in engineering and manufacturing, in 2018 Jane successfully exited the laser cutting and engraving business she co-founded in 2003, during which time she also served as a Regional Advisory Board Member of the EEF (now Make UK). Jane is also a Member of the Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire. In her role of Trustee with Brigantia Learning Trust, she continues her work to promote STEM subjects and encourage young people to think outside the box in their career choices.


Mark Sherburn – Trustee
Mark has held a series of roles across a number of organisations, most recently as HR Director at sofa and carpet retailer ScS. Mark was previously Director of HR Operations at DFS. Earlier in his career he led the personnel and training and development functions at business equipment and photography company Canon, including responsibility for management development across Europe. He is experienced in developing strategy and all aspects of HR. Mark is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (FCIPD).

Nicola Shipman - Trustee
Nicola is CEO of Steel City Schools Partnership (SCSP), a Sheffield based primary Multi Academy Trust. Prior to this, Nicola was Headteacher and then Executive Headteacher of 3 Sheffield primary schools. Nicola is also a National Leader of Education and in that role she works closely with many trust and school leaders in numerous aspects of school improvement across the Yorkshire and Humber region.

Alison Warner - Trustee
Alison has vast experience as a Chair of Governors in a number of schools across Sheffield and Rotherham. She is a Member of the Chorus Academy Trust and one of the founding Trustees/Directors and Members of Brigantia Learning Trust. She is also an Executive Member of the Sheffield Association of School Governing Bodies.
